Julien Laurat elected Optica Fellow 2025

Julien Laurat, Professor at Sorbonne University and researcher at the Laboratoire Kastler Brossel, has been elected Optica Fellow 2025 by Optica, the leading international society for optics and photonics (formerly the Optical Society of America).

This prestigious distinction is awarded to him for his outstanding contributions to the field of quantum optics and quantum networks. His work on the development of quantum memory and its applications to quantum technologies has been particularly recognized.

By receiving this title, he joins the ranks of Optica Fellows, a distinction granted based on several criteria, including exceptional contributions to research, industry, education, engineering, and service to Optica and its community.

Of note: graduate engineer from the École Supérieure d’Optique, Professor of Physics at Sorbonne University, and a member of the Institut Universitaire de France, Julien Laurat is an expert in optics and quantum information. He is the recipient of an ERC Advanced Grant and the 2024 Jean Jerphagnon Prize from the SFO. He is also the co-founder of the startup Welinq.
