Welcome to the Rubidium lab!
We study the physics of single two-dimensional Bose gases of Rb atoms. Using spatial light modulators we can create arbitrary density profiles inside a box potential. We exploit this versatility to explore many different aspects of quantum-many body physics: thermodynamics, the Kosterlitz-Thouless topological phase transition, superfluidity, sound propagation, light scattering in optically dense media, solitons and breathers … For details see our recent projects
